Let's start with a bit of background on the original rule that banned any discussion of mods. It was created a long time ago when the majority of mods were malicious hacks. Back then, I don't think there were really any "good" mods, as in ones that added new mechanics. Innersloth didn't have any policies pertaining to mods, so they were pretty much banned.
But since then, mods have changed. Innersloth recently released a mod policy outlining what mods are and aren't allowed. There's been a lot of mods being released, adding new roles or mechanics and one even adding an entire new map.
So, what happens here? Well, a few things. First up is the new rule about mods:
All discussed mods must follow Innersloth's mod policy and clearly state it is a mod.
Anything that is prohibited or discouraged by Innersloth is not allowed, including hacks or unlocking paid items.
All advertised mods must be free to obtain and use. (though additional minor features like cosmetics may be paid)
Any links to information about mods must be on reputable distribution sites. (like GitHub or itch.io)
Mods may only be mentioned in the mods article or mods discussion category.
As mentioned in the last section, we created a page to provide basic information on mods. There will be a way to list mods that follow the rules, so others can use them. We also added a category in discussions for posts pertaining to mods.
If anyone has any questions, please drop me a message or contact any of our other staff, You can see the full list of rules here.
