Among Us 3D, formerly known as Among Us VR[1], is a social deduction video game by Schell Games and a first-person 3D spin-off of Among Us for virtual reality headsets. It was published by Innersloth in November 2022 for Meta Quest 2 and Steam VR. As of January 2024, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, PICO and PSVR2 are also supported.[2] It includes most mechanics from the main game, but currently only includes The Skeld II and Polus Point maps.[3][4][5] It is incompatible with the main game and can only be played with other Among Us 3D players.

History[]

On April 20, 2022, it was announced that Among Us VR will be released during Holiday 2022.[6] It was released on November 10 of 2022.

On February 7, 2023, Schell Games revealed a teaser for a new second map based on Polus. Players could vote between 3 names for the new map: "Polus Mines", "Polus Frontier" and "Polus Point". Schell Games had stated that the winners would be revealed approximately one month after the voting opens.

Finally, the vote ended with the name "Polus Point" winning.[7]

2024 was the start of Limited Time Events, the ones for this year being:

The game also had many other limited time events, collaborations with other games, and new cosmetics.

So far, 2025 has had two Limited Time Event, one sharing it with 2024, and one returning:

On April 10th, game was rebranded to Among Us 3D, with full crossplay support between VR and PC. With this, a new gamemode called 'Infected'[8] was added, having very similar gameplay to the Limited Time Event 'Infection'.

On May 6th, Among Us 3D was released on Steam and those who Wishlisted the game, as part of a Wishlist milestone, received a free VR headset hat in the game, and those who had owned Among Us VR received a free copy of Among Us 3D which was automatically added to their library.[9]

Gameplay[]

Similar to the original game, Among Us 3D has two teams: Crewmates and Impostors. Crewmates complete tasks around the ship, with both ones from the original and exclusive ones for Among Us 3D. Impostors can kill Crewmates, vent (by using vents on the walls), and Sabotage the map. There are no additional roles from the original Among Us in the game, excluding the Engineer.

Lobbies can hold up to 10 players and unlike in the classical Among Us, there is an optional proximity voice chat feature built into the game, although it comes with voice chat moderation that wasn't built into the demo version of the game.

Age Limit[]

Currently, an age gate is imposed that prevents players younger than 13 years old from playing the game, and another age gate that restricts minors (anyone under the age of 18) from using the voice chat feature. However, this system is not perfect as some underage people may lie about their age in order to circumvent these restrictions.
