June 21, 2022

  • Added a Streamer Mode. When active, room codes do not display in the lobby and is replaced by "Click to copy". This can be toggled on or off in the General Settings.
  • Account linking for all platforms (minus PlayStation and Nintendo) is back. Follow the in-game instructions carefully as we've removed Guest Accounts, but it should make it an easier process.
  • Added Colorblind Settings. When active, the names of the colors will appear next to the players during meetings, and below the player during gameplay.
  • Players are now able to view the map from the voting screen.
  • Friends List – The player's last display name will appear above a player's Friend Code.

Biggest bug fixes

  • Loading screen now waits for every player in the lobby when loading into a round
  • Kills can no longer happen when an Emergency Meeting is being called
  • Players can no longer move themselves during the role reveal screen
  • Players in game should no longer randomly lose the ability to interact with map, complete tasks, or kills
  • Impostor now shifts correctly when attempting to shapeshift after Emergency Meeting if the meeting was called at the same time
  • Quick Chat wheel can be used as intended while a task (Download Data / Upload Data) is being completed. Players will no longer be forced to close and re-open chat
  • Smooth Talker achievement can now be unlocked if the second to last Crewmate leaves the game
  • Players should no longer see the 'Sure is taking a while' error message when launching Among Us
  • Friend Codes no longer duplicate across all players when player and host rejoin lobby
  • Friends List – Chat icon will display as grayed out when the Friends List is open. Opposite is true if Chat is open.
  • Android and iOS – Players can now interact with the Role Settings menu no matter how quickly they are tapping through other settings
  • Android – Players should no longer see errors when signing in on certain Android devices
  • Android – Players can now view and access achievements
  • Resolved desync issue when player reports body while climbing ladder
  • Polaroids for the 'Develop Photos' tasks cannot be placed outside the task window
  • During meetings, buttons respond as intended no matter how spammy your clicks are
  • Players can interact with the Role Settings menu no matter how spammy their clicks are on other settings

July 20, 2021 (Epic Games version only)

  • Fixes the issue where the EGS version of the game was crashing on startup for some users.
  • Some people may see a webpage popup when opening the EGS version of the game asking for consent for Epic to share some data with Among Us (this is a data consent that is usually inherently granted, but some users have lost that consent for whatever reason). After accepting, users should be able to log into their account in Among Us as normal.
  • Some users may still see the FailedEpicAuthToken error initially, but if they try to log in again, it should work then (it may take a few seconds for the access approval to propagate through)

  • Medscan is no longer a common task. Fix Wires is now a common task.
    • This should really help the issue of players swarming medscan to determine who is safe. Common tasks were meant to give impostors places where they could likely find crewmates. We never intended for them to become an easy way to exclude the impostor. But we still like medscan, so making it a long task should reduce its visibility so it isn't game breaking.
  • Ghosts no longer get the 5 minute penalty for leaving.
    • Ideally, we want players to stay for the entire game. Ghost crewmates are still responsible for doing tasks, and ghost impostors can still sabotage to remain helpful. But we understand that some players don't enjoy playing as ghosts and until we can further improve that experience, it's not fair to penalize people who have played the game long enough to die.
  • Ghost impostors can no longer use vents.
  • Fixed graphical issues with medscan animation.
  • Fixed various issues related to players leaving mid-game.
    • This manifests in strange ways. For example, sometimes "Player 1 was An Impostor" shows up as "... The Impostor" in a game with multiple impostors. This is because other impostors have left the game, their "Am I Impostor" data was removed. The update keeps that kind of data around, so this is fixed.
    • A better example is when a player dies, they leave behind a body. But if the dead player leaves before the body is reported, it shows up as calling an emergency meeting. There are lots of weird cases like this that should now be fixed.

Made ghosts a bit faster, so they can follow the action easier.

  • Fixed ghosts not showing on the game end screen.
  • Fixed Korean characters periodically showing up as boxes or bold.
  • Fixed non-ASCII characters for local game names.
  • Fixed text sizes on intro screen.
  • Fixed scrolling on Find Game screen.

Smaller changes

  • We've added a 5-minute ban to players who leave games or close the app in the middle of a game.
  • Impostors can now use the medbay scanner.
    • Common tasks are intended to give impostors a single place to expect all players to pass through. The shared animation unfortunately gave crewmates a strong means to ensure certain players are not the impostor. While there are aggressive impostor strategies to combat this, knowing 100% who is or is not an impostor is not a mechanic we think is in the spirit of the game.
  • Fixed/improved various bugs:
    • Sabotages would sometimes start after a meeting starts
    • Scan animation would sometimes play while the player can move around.
    • FindGame list sometimes has a ship in the background.
    • Rounding causes game options text to be inconsistent
    • Can accidentally report bodies through the map screen.

    • This seems like a small bug, but can manifest itself in big ways. This bug could only happen when joining games, but if everyone else leaves, the bugged player will become host. Players with a bugged host might experience sabotages, kills, reporting, voting and other things not working.

Balance Adjustments

  • Reduce upload data from 12 to 8 seconds
    • We found this was a lot of boring wait time for a "short task".
  • Reduce fix wires from 4 to 3 stops.
    • Although this is an easy task, 4 stops made the consoles feel less random and created a lot of walking time.
  • Reduce inspect sample from 4 to 1 sample, but increase from 15 to 60 seconds.
    • This task was meant to be one you felt you could start and come back to, but 15 seconds wasn't really long enough to leave. Similarly, it's not a very exciting task, so needing to repeat it 4 times wasn't very fun.

  • When a player joined a game at the same time the host started, the joined player could get some weird behaviour. The easiest to see is that you don't get tasks, but it might also lead to overpopulation (>10 players in a game)
  • When two meetings start at the same time (by report or emergency), clients would see two meeting tablets. One of them would work, but the other would never close, often leading to a softlock.
  • General network stability. Players should notice fewer disconnects.
  • We added an optional voting timer to limit meetings from 1–5 minutes (default: off). So hopefully kicking/banning due to AFK and stubbornness will be reduced.
  • We put the shop in the lobby's customize screen, so if you see a sweet hat or are tired of mobile ads, you can easily buy those things.

  • The play online screen remembers the last used game code until you quit
  • You can now pick between short, normal, and long kill distance using the lobby computer
  • You should be far less likely to spawn into space before/after a game.
    • This is partially caused by a host with a poor (high ping) internet connection. You may need to wait up to 10 seconds to spawn when joining or rejoining a game. 10 seconds is how long it takes to safely kick someone if they abruptly disconnect.
  • Players should no longer occasionally spawn duplicates.
    • Similar to above, It may take a few seconds to despawn when quickly rejoining due to abrupt disconnect.
  • You can no longer start the "Clean O2 Filter" task through the cafeteria wall.
  • Multiple impostors cannot start multiple sabotages at the same time.
  • Security door could never be closed.
  • No longer softlock when exiled as impostor during freeplay.
  • Various other fixes such as some panels not auto-closing after completion.

  • Sometimes when playing again, players spawn as the same color. The duped players can't both vote, creating a softlock during discussion.
  • Sometimes when the host is watching a mobile ad after playing again, it causes other players to be stuck before respawning.

Selecting 2+ Impostors for <5 players or 3+ Impostors for <6 players would cause the Impostors to instantly win.

    • 2 Impostors now requires 6+ players, 3 Impostors requires 8+ players.

Selecting 0 total tasks would cause the Crewmates to instantly win

    • If 0 total tasks are selected, the game defaults to 1 short task.
  • During discussion, ghosts could send chat messages, potentially giving away the impostor.
    • Ghosts can still read messages, but cannot send them anymore.
  • Impostor ghosts (when there are 2+ impostors) could kill players
    • Impostor ghosts cannot kill, but can still sabotage. We will be checking to see how this affects game balance.
  • Miscellaneous small bugs, like sabotage flashes continuing into discussion or being able to tap buttons through open menus.
