Detective is a role in Among Us. It is based on the Crewmate role with added abilities which allow for further research on kills.

The Notes Ability lets the Detective document information about a kill, namely the location of the body and type of Impostor suspected to have killed the victim.

Interrogate

The Interrogate Ability lets the Detective find out where a player was at the time of the murder. The suspects per case file do not reset on a meeting or a new meeting, it is a fixed amount that is given whenever a dead player is known to be deceased (failing to show up in the meeting or their body gets reported).

The distance to interrogate someone cannot be adjusted, as the distance to interrogate someone has to be extremely close (enough for both players to be touching).

When a Shapeshifter who has turned into someone else is interrogated, the files will show the "shapeshifted player" to be in the same location as the body died, but when a meeting is called these files will adjust to the "Real Shapeshifter's color", so be aware of the colors/names of the people you interrogate as the files will adjust to the correct information when a meeting is called.

Options

Options for the role can be set in the lobby options.

Probability

The maximum number of Crewmates that can become Detectives and the likelihood of any given Crewmate to become one.

Suspects per Case

How many players can be interrogated for each case file where a new dead body is evident upon calling a meeting.

• The role went through multiple different iterations during the playtesting stage.
  • It originally involved the Detective needing to find the body themselves and inspect it.
• The idea for it came from Among Us itself's original inspirations.
• This role is the only role to have more than one unique ability.
