- Guide
- Avoid needlessly using vents in front of others. Some Crewmates may forget that there are Engineers, then accuse and eject you.
- Hop inside a vent, and find a room with two people. This is useful because if one of them is An Impostor and kills the Crewmate, you will be a witness and be able to accuse them. Be careful, though, as if you are forced out for spending too much time in the vent or the trapped Crewmate is cleaning the vent you are in, The Impostor might prevent you from calling an emergency meeting and kill you.
- You may even catch a Shapeshifter while in the vents. This is useful as during an emergency meeting, when the person framed for a kill is being accused of being an Impostor, you can defend them and tell the other Crewmates that a Shapeshifter is responsible and inform them of their identity. Even if they eject the innocent person, the other players may now believe you as they have realized that they voted off the wrong person and that, being an Engineer, you could have secretly watched the Shapeshifter from inside the vents.
- Use the vents if someone sees you through the windows in a room on Polus. They are most likely The Impostor if they see you and turn around to enter the room you are in.
- On MIRA HQ, due to the vents connecting, you can easily watch and go through the vents to see if An Impostor kills a Crewmate.
- Verify yourself with a visual task as soon as possible before you start using vents. This is because when someone sees you doing a visual task and using vents during the same game, they can be sure you are an Engineer.
- Alternatively, another way to convince others of your identity if you have no visual tasks is by deliberately going inside of a vent in front of a large group. This will convince most savvy players that you are an Engineer since An Impostor would logically be unlikely to do that regardless if they're savvy or not.
- When confirmed as an Engineer, you can ask players if they have Clean Vent. This task kicks out any Impostors or Engineers inside the cleaned vent, so it could be a way to clear other players.
- If you have Clean Vent on your task list, complete it as soon as possible, as you cannot enter or exit the assigned vent until you have done so.
- If you suspect that a trap has been sprung by the Impostors, most commonly when the doors suddenly shut with less than 4 crewmates inside, venting near that trap could help you reveal who the Impostor was if they came in or escape through the same vent as you.
- Similarly, having a fully replenished vent cooldown when you are targeted by the Impostors can save your life if you're fast enough. However, the best use of this vent strategy is to play mind games with the Impostor hot on your trail by tricking them into going into the wrong vent and wasting time trying to intercept you while you're ready to expose them next meeting.
