Sabotage
This article is the strategy section for ghosts.
You can add more strategies to this page. However, it must be related to the abilities and characteristics of Among Us. If not, your strategy will be removed.

Crewmate[]

  • Finish your tasks. If you have any tasks left, complete them as soon as possible to help all Crewmates win through task completion.
    • Remind other ghosts to do tasks as well, especially Guardian Angels who may have forgotten that they still have tasks to do.
  • Be wary of visual tasks. Except for Submit Scan, ghosts should do any visual tasks they have when there is nobody stood at the panel (unless the host turned the animations off). This is because they could accidentally verify An Impostor faking these tasks. Players that have been ejected or know there are multiple living Impostors should ask who The Impostors are to avoid this situation.
    • Similarly, ghosts on Polus should avoid doing the Clear Asteroids task when there is An Impostor in Weapons, as a Crewmate outside that sees the animation will be lured in to try and confirm someone as a Crewmate, granting The Impostor a free victim.
    • When about to be ejected with confirm ejects off, you could ask people to go to where your visual task is to show the animation, so they know they ejected a Crewmate.
  • Wait for survivors. Ghosts often have plenty of time to finish their tasks, unlike living Crewmates. Therefore, ghosts should give way for living players with Submit Scan so they can finish the task. Failing to do so may lead to the living player being accused of faking the task while waiting for you (if visual tasks are on) and being ejected.
  • Time your long tasks. Due to being able to clip through walls and having increased speed, a task's location is rarely important for a ghost. It is often best to do long tasks such as Upload Data immediately after emergency meetings, to avoid body reports or use of the emergency button interrupting the task.
  • Do your tasks before talking much. Especially if there are many tasks in the game, it is important to refrain from sending more than a few messages to other ghosts before you have finished tasks. If you die late in the game and still have tasks left, you should do them before talking at all, as it could make the difference between a win or a loss.
    • If you have done your tasks, avoid distracting other ghosts from their tasks by engaging in long conversations with them. Instead, talk to ghosts that have finished their tasks or distract Impostor ghosts from Sabotaging.
  • Help the Guardian Angels. If there are Guardian Angels in the game, try to identify The Impostors. If there are no Shapeshifters, you can tell the Guardian Angels who killed you (if you were murdered) and look out for suspicious players when your tasks are finished. If there are Shapeshifters, look for any of them shifting. This information will assist the Guardian Angels in knowing who needs protecting and when. It may also be a good idea to haunt every living player to find out their role and relay this back to Guardian Angels.
  • Avoid being protected instead of a Crewmate. To protect someone effectively, Guardian Angels need to protect them and not a ghost. Try not to haunt or stand too close to An Impostor or a nearby living Crewmate if a kill may happen. This reduces the risk of you being protected instead.

Impostor[]

  • Sabotage when appropriate. Impostor ghosts retain the ability to use the Sabotage menu. You can help living Impostors in ways such as shutting doors, turning off the lights and even directly causing a win through a critical Sabotage. However, shutting every door on The Skeld is rarely helpful because it can get in living Impostor's way, and it prevents other Sabotages. Instead, follow your teammate or different Crewmates to decide an action that can improve your chances of winning.
    • The best time to Sabotage is when your partner has vented, since living Impostors cannot Sabotage while in a vent. For example, on The Skeld, Red has killed White in Electrical and has entered a vent. You should ideally Sabotage to divert people's attention away from the body (such as Oxygen Depleted or Comms Sabotaged).
    • Closing the doors In The Airship Or Polus is also a good idea, since it does not prevent any major Sabotages and it can delay the crew. Just make sure you do not accidentally leave your partner unable to leave a room, especially if they have killed in it (such as locking your partner in Communications on Polus with a dead body).
  • Don't leave the game. This makes it harder for other Impostors to win without you helping with Sabotage, especially when they cannot do so if they are on a monitoring ability or in a vent.
    • Disconnecting before the emergency meeting is over is even worse since the Crewmates have eliminated An Impostor immediately and can now eject someone else in the same meeting, potentially another Impostor.
  • Confuse Guardian Angels. If ejected and the other Impostor(s) have not killed, try to convince the other dead players that an innocent Crewmate is actually another Impostor. This will lead to the Guardian Angels following the Crewmate you framed and wasting their Protect ability while the other Impostor(s) kill without their victims being protected.
