Crewmate[]
- As soon as you see a body, you should report it as quickly as possible. If you hesitate to report a body, other Crewmates may be suspicious of you and believe you to be An Impostor, potentially leading to an ejection.
- This does not apply if you have discovered the body very soon after the round started, as this can cause other players to suspect that you are An Impostor reporting a body they have just killed. Instead, go to the nearest task, wait a short while, and then report the body. By standing near a task, you can claim to have not seen the body for the task if walked in on.
- Similarly, if you report a body but have recently reported another body, other players will pick up on this and think you are reporting your own kills repeatedly. Instead, walk away from the body if it safe to do so and let someone else report it.
- If the kill was very recent it may be useful to look around for other players nearby. You may catch someone fleeing the scene and/or using a vent.
- If you are using Vitals (either as a Scientist or via the stationary monitors on Polus or The Airship), you can see if a Crewmate dies and if a report was immediately issued. If so, this could indicate that the reporter was An Impostor who killed the currently dead Crewmate if the reporter do not suspect anyone.
- It is advisable to watch the report button when going near an area where it is possible to obscure a body. If you are standing near a body, the button will light up. This can help discover a body that players may otherwise not notice.
- As soon as you see a dead body during a critical Sabotage, such as Reactor Meltdown, you should report it. Reporting during a critical Sabotage starts an emergency meeting and ends the critical Sabotage.
- If you are determined, you can try to catch An Impostor by ignoring the body and running after them to see their color. This improves your chances of discovering The Impostor, but can also be a dangerous tactic as anyone who notices you near the body will likely be immediately suspicious of you.
- Keep in mind that bodies on the other sides of closed doors cannot be reported, even if it is in your sight.
- If you find somebody as An Impostor when a Sabotage happens, try to find a body to report as reporting can still call meetings during Sabotages, leading The Impostor to ejection.
Impostor[]
- A common strategy, referred to by many as self-reporting, involves An Impostor reporting the body of a Crewmate they had just killed. This has both upsides and downsides, depending on the scenario at hand.
- One strategy consists of you, An Impostor, immediately reporting the body of a Crewmate as soon as you kill them. This is a dangerous tactic, as you may become a prime suspect, especially if the body was in an isolated location. Depending on the circumstances, this can either convince the Crewmates of your innocence or invite suspicion. This strategy is particularly dangerous on Polus and The Airship, as any Crewmate on Vitals can see when a Crewmate is killed. In addition, if Scientists are enabled, they will be able to briefly access Vitals anywhere regardless of the map. Reporting the body immediately after killing a Crewmate is not a good idea, and unless you have a very solid alibi, you may be ejected based on suspicion alone.
- You should never kill a Crewmate then immediately report the body at the beginning of a game, especially if you claim they were alone in the emergency meeting. This will likely cause Crewmates to decide that you are An Impostor.
- On Polus or The Airship or if there are Scientists, you can kill a Crewmate and wait a few seconds before reporting. If the Crewmates suspect it as a case of you killing them then immediately reporting, you could say that the body was near a vent. This could make the Crewmates believe that The Impostor used a vent to get away after killing the Crewmate. Better yet, Sabotage the lights or the doors leading to the room where you killed the crewmate, wait a few seconds, and then report. This way, if you underestimate the timing, you could get away with it by saying that you could not have seen The Impostor leaving the body because of the Fix Lights Sabotage.
- A second strategy consists of you walking away from a Crewmate's body and later coming back to it. This tactic is less dangerous as you can claim that you only discovered the body. The tactic works even better if a group of people discovers the body with you in the group.
- Another tip is if a Crewmate saw you kill, you can immediately report it and frame the Crewmate who witnessed it. This will only work if you are not under suspicion, the Crewmate who witnessed the kill is not verified, and there is nobody else in the room (other than your Impostor teammate) where the kill took place. In addition, if Confirm Ejects is enabled, this tactic can easily backfire, as Crewmates will know that the ejected Crewmate is not An Impostor and turn their focus to you, dramatically increasing your chances of being ejected yourself.
- Try not to report a body you have killed more than twice, and never report back-to-back. The Crewmates will notice this and become suspicious.

- One method to avoid suspicion in a game with two or three Impostors is to report bodies that another Impostor had killed.
