This article is the strategy section for Security.
You can add more strategies to this page. However, it must be related to the abilities and characteristics of Among Us. If not, your strategy will be removed.
On The Skeld, the best way to catch An Impostor is by faking them out. This can be done by clicking on and off Security and baiting An Impostor into using a vent or killing a Crewmate.
An easy way to catch Impostors is to stand in Security, and wait until the vent in MedBay opens, then get on Security to see who exited MedBay.
You can be almost certain that a player is An Impostor if they are standing as if watching Security but the cameras are not blinking.
This strategy is better on The Skeld and The Airship because there is a camera near the monitor.
However, it could simply be a Crewmate watching their surroundings, or a bug. [needs testing]
Another way of catching An Impostor is by knowing they are going to a place where a vent is located. If An Impostor goes to MedBay but never comes back out, and still goes through another area with cameras, it is sure that The Impostor has used a vent.
This also works well if The Impostor in question goes into Admin, Navigation, Reactor, or MedBay. If one can keep an eye on multiple cameras at once, they can even make sure that The Impostor walks out of Upper Engine.
When you call an emergency meeting to say that another player never left a room, you should make sure they are not dead. If they are, they never came out because they were killed, and you will look suspicious for accusing a dead player.
Impostors tend to kill out in the open much more during Fix Lights. On The Skeld, you can go to Security and focus on the hallway that connects to Admin and the hallway that connects to Upper Engine, Lower Engine, Reactor, and Security. These two hallways tend to have many people passing through them so that you may witness a kill by an overconfident Impostor.
Likewise, you can use Security on Polus and focus on the northwest, southwest, and central cameras, as kills during Fix Lights happen in those places often.
On Polus and The Airship, you can stand in front of a camera so that the blinking red light is hidden, possibly baiting Impostors to kill you. This may be risky, however, as you cannot see if the cameras are on either.
When the lights are Sabotaged, the cameras still have maximum vision, so this can bait An Impostor into killing or venting.
The south camera shows a vent in Office, but the players inside cannot see the camera blinking and they will not be aware of that, so Impostors may vent there without knowing you are watching Security.
When you stand where you can see a blinking camera and you are near security or on the Admin map, you can tell if the person watching died or vented if the camera stops blinking and you don't see the player leaving the room shortly after. You can then walk in and report any body there with an accurate time of death or prove venting. This strategy is best used on The Skeld.
On The Skeld and Polus, faking watching the cameras whilst at least one other Crewmate is also in the Security room can be a viable way to bait Impostors into venting just above in your view or killing one of the Crewmates, thinking the other(s) will be too distracted by the cameras to notice and hoping for them to be discovered by the body. Having at least two people not actually using the ability works best - as if it's just one they might be killed rather than the one actually watching the cameras.
While Security is a very useful tool, try not to stay for too long watching the cameras. Impostors can easily go to your location and kill you, since while watching the cameras you are basically a sitting duck that cannot move and is giving away their current location thanks to the cameras' blinking lights. Eliminating a camera camper also benefits the Impostors, as this leaves less room for error in case they kill in front of a camera.
Due to all of the tasks being on the right side of The Skeld's MedBay, when a player leaves, their visor should be facing left. If you see a player through Security leaving MedBay with their visor facing left, it can be assumed that they entered to do tasks. Due to the vent being on the left side of MedBay, when a player leaves, their visor will be facing right. If you see a player through Security leaving MedBay with their visor facing right, it is possible that they are An Impostor and entered via a vent. Then you can go north or south of Security, (depending on which way the player went after leaving MedBay), and call an emergency meeting.
However, the player in question may have switched the direction of their visor, completed Clean Vent on the MedBay vent or come to MedBay to watch another Crewmate complete Submit Scan. They might also be an Engineer.
In Hide n Seek, You should only watch the cameras for a short time to see where The Impostor currently is, as watching it for a long time makes you vulnerable for The Impostor to kill. Your alert is also inaccessible while doing so.
In The Skeld, if you do not find The Impostor in any of the cameras for a while, it is very likely that The Impostor is currently near Storage, heading to Lower engine, It would be wise to make your escape before they arrive near Security, since Security is a dead end and especially deadly if you do not have any more vent uses to escape.
If there is only one Crewmate in Security, try using a vent to enter, kill them, and use the vent again to leave. A similar strategy can be used if on Polus, although the risk in this case is much higher as the vent is directly to the north of Security, meaning that you can't see how many people are inside.
There are no vents in Security on The Airship, meaning that you can't use this strategy.
However, there is a vent nearby in Kitchen on The Airship, and you may use Door Sabotage to close the doors to Hall of Portraits, Medical, and Main Hall so that you can safely run away.
You should not attempt to kill a Crewmate or use a vent if you see someone is using Security via the red flash on a camera. Whoever is using Security is watching and can easily call an emergency meeting to eject The Impostor(s). This is a bit safer on Polus or The Airship because there is a chance that the Crewmate watching Security was checking a different camera and The Impostor has enough time to move away from the camera.
If you are caught, you should quickly activate the Door Sabotage to lock Security if on The Skeld or Electrical if on Polus and use a vent to enter and kill them. On The Airship, lock the doors in Kitchen, Main Hall and Medical to completely block the ways going to Meeting Room from Security. This will be harder to do if the kill cooldown is higher. If the cooldown is still not yet finished, try to Sabotage the doors in Cafeteria if on The Skeld or Office if on Polus. On The Airship, close both the doors in Brig and Records. This could keep them away from the emergency button to avoid them to call an emergency meeting. You should be in the room that has the emergency button before Sabotaging the doors (you could also be in Gap Room if on The Airship). If not, use a vent to go there.
However, if you killed someone on camera, you should also lock the doors at the place where the Crewmate was killed and quickly escape by either running away or hiding in a vent because there is a chance that the player watching Security would go to the place where the dead body is located.
If Electrical is Sabotaged and Fix Lights occurs, you should attempt to kill somewhere other than hallways in the range of cameras to avoid anyone watching on Security.
You should not pretend to be on Security for the kill cooldown to end, as Crewmates passing by can see you standing in Security despite the lights on the cameras being off, which could possibly lead to raised suspicion or even ejection. However, this can be done if there are multiple Crewmates using Security. Also, your kill cooldown goes down even if you are on Security, so that is another reason not to pretend to be on Security.
Security footage can be very useful for you to track down any other Impostors or discover potential victims.
A risky strategy and a bit hard to pull off is if there are two Crewmates at Security, you could try to kill one of them and get as far away from Security as much as you can, another Crewmate may come in, see the other Crewmate standing next to the dead body, report it, and accuse the player that was standing next to it.
On The Airship, there's a security camera in Security, showing most of the room, excluding the Outside area, making this strategy riskier, since one of the Crewmates may see you kill if they were watching the said camera.
Note that sabotaging Communications on The Fungle is useless to force the Crewmates off the Binoculars, as it does not affect the ability in Fungle.
You should be more careful on Fungle when killing, as there is no way to tell if someone is using the Binoculars. They also cover a considerably large area of the map, but fortunately the chances of you being caught is lowered, as they can only view a small area of the mentioned large perimeter at any one time.
