- Guide
- Never let someone see you kill. This is the most important aspect for an Impostor, but even more so for the viper. Since the body will be coated with acid when you kill someone, you cannot blame it on a Shapeshifter if caught, because you cannot be a Shapeshifter and a Viper at the same time.
- After using the Acid ability on a Crewmate on The Skeld, exit the room and close the door. This gives the body an extra 10 seconds to dissolve. Just make sure you aren't caught by Engineers, Trackers or Detectives. This tactic will not work if the body dissolve time is more than 10 seconds, and it requires insane luck if the body dissolve time is merely 15 seconds.
- Kill in uncrowded areas: This will allow the body to dissolve and disappear easily and undiscovered. The best examples of these are the blindspot in Upper Engine, Top and bottom corners on reactor(skeld). Launchpad is also the best place for bodies to dissolve in Mira.
- Don't let the crewmates find your victims: If your victims are dissolved, the crewmates can't find them, especially the Detectives, they can't investigate your victims' murders if they are completely dissolved, because they can take notes about the murder location and if the bodies disappear, they can't take notes.
- One easy way to do this is to sabotage in a location far from the kill, as it may distract crewmates long enough for the body to dissolve.
- Be careful with Engineers, Trackers and/or Detectives: These Crewmates can learn where you were when a player died. Because the body is covered in acid, they will know it was you who killed them since the Shapeshifter cannot use Acid.
- If you're planning a vent kill, sabotage comms first. This will kick any Engineers out of the vent, making it impossible for them to catch you.
- At the third stage, the color of the body cannot be seen, so if a) the body dissolves completely right as the crew gets to it, or b) they do report but don't pay attention to the report screen and hence do not know who was viper killed (especially if more than one player died that round), the Detective's abilities are rendered useless as he does not know who died where, leading to inaccurate interrogations.
- In an endgame, the Viper is very powerful. The Viper's ability is extremely useful in lategame, as there are lesser Crewmates spread across the map. Killing someone in one location may possibly not give others enough time to reach the body, so unless there are Scientists or paranoid crewmates who call meetings to check on everyone's well-being, the other crewmates will not notice until it is too late, winning you the game as if you keep track of the number of people left, you can easily walk up and kill someone when you are aware there are 3 people left.
- On Polus, the cams are your best friend. Polus is a big map, and with around 6 to 8 people left, people will rarely see each other. You can camp on the cameras in Security, then sabotage Lights. After so, close all the doors. Camp outside the area that holds the Fix Lights panel, then wait for a single person to arrive there alone. Kill them immediately, then quickly run back to Cams. As Fix Lights isn't a critical sabotage, and people will be trapped in other places, most people won't be in a hurry to rush there. You can watch Cams for others to come toward the body, especially the cameras that cover the Electrical exit toward O2 and to the right side. You will most likely be concealed in Security as it is in a corner, giving it a massive blindspot. Since you are monitoring the exits near to the body, you can easily rush there if you see someone coming over and kill them quickly, before returning to the continuous cycle. The engineer is the role that will ruin this plan, as if they can see you running back to cams from the vent outside Security, they will easily hop out and find a dead body. You also have to take note of crewmate vision, as if it is too high this will be useless. Make sure you are the only one on cams, too, as anyone else on cams can see you kill even if lights are off.
