Crewmate[]
- If two players are walking together and one of those two players dies a short while after, the other player who was with them could be An Impostor.
- Because Vitals allows players to see if someone is dead, an instant or near-instant report after a Crewmate dies could mean that the reporter has a very high probability of being An Impostor, and that they had killed the now-dead Crewmate.
- Note that it could have been a Crewmate that saw The Impostor kill.
- If the reporter says that no one else was nearby, and the lights were not off, the reporting player has all but been confirmed as An Impostor.
- With Vitals close to both Admin and the emergency button on Polus, if a Crewmate sees a player die on Vitals, they can either try to locate the body on Admin or immediately call an emergency meeting to interrogate who saw the dead Crewmate last. It is recommended to locate the body using Admin, so players can additionally know the locations of others.
- A player can also look at Admin and then immediately call an emergency meeting, asking where everyone was. This can help them clear Crewmates and find Impostors. For example: on the final four, if a player dies and then another player sees someone in Specimen Room and two players in O2, the one who does not say they were in specimen is a guaranteed killer.
- If there are four players left and a Crewmate can confirm another is a Crewmate, they should convince them to stay with each other. If they use Vitals and one of the others die, the remaining player is a guaranteed Impostor. An emergency meeting can be called to vote the third player out, as long as either Crewmate has an emergency meeting left.
- If Crewmates have Insert Keys, they can ask each player which keyhole they had, and later look on Vitals to see if everyone's keyhole number matches their Vitals number (i.e. if a player says they had the very first keyhole, but they're located fourth on Vitals, they may be An Impostor).
- If you see that The Impostors only need one more kill to win, immediately call an emergency meeting and inform everyone about the situation and try to agree on who could be the Impostor to eject them.
Scientist[]
- Do not stay on the portable Vitals screen for too long, as you will run out of battery and cannot use it during emergency situations.
- You can use Vitals when Fix Lights is active, as The Impostor might kill players in the dark. Try to search for the body when the lights are on again. You may use some of the strategies for normal Crewmates to catch The Impostors.
- If there is no Sabotage active, doing tasks is your first priority, as completing tasks can recharge your portable Vitals monitor.
- Do not do too many tasks in a short period of time, as this will waste potential recharges.
- You may use the stationary Vitals monitor in Office or Medical on Polus or The Airship to save battery for your portable Vitals monitor.
Impostor[]
- When only four players are alive, if The Impostor wants to take the Crewmates by surprise with a win before they know one of them is dead but sees someone on Vitals, they can Sabotage Comms, and The Impostors could then kill one of the Crewmates in a location where the body may not be found easily. Then, they can wait for their kill cooldown to finish and kill another Crewmate to win the game.
- Be aware that Vitals can be seen over Security on Polus, so killing a Crewmate near Vitals will be difficult to keep hidden. The best way to disperse players constantly located near both Vitals and in Security is to Sabotage Comms. However, your target may go away from you as the Crewmate may go to fix Comms.
- Although Comms Sabotaged fully disables Vitals, you shouldn't self report right after Sabotaging Comms, because an observative Crewmate could notice that everyone was alive before the sabotage happened, thus the Crewmate will start shifting the conversation to you, which might lead to your ejection.
- You could also stand by the Vitals panel to wait for your kill cooldown. There are no visual cues to give away that you do not have it open, which means you can stand there for a while without raising suspicion.
- However, this can backfire if a Crewmate asks what you saw on Vitals when you were actually waiting for your cooldown to end. In a scenario like this, you should say that you didn't see anything suspicious.
