The crewmates are heading back to headquarters for the next map!

—Innersloth, official website[1]

MIRA HQ is the second map in Among Us, set high up in the atmosphere of the Earth. The facility is owned by and is the headquarters for the company MIRA.

Premise

After a long journey on The Skeld, the Crewmates decided to spend some time at the MIRA Headquarters. Surely there aren't as many Impostors there...

Features

Development and release

With the implementation of a map filter in 2019's first update, Innersloth officially confirmed the development of a second map.[2] Later, they revealed the map would be set on the Crewmates headquarters,[1] and released several concept arts from the new map on Discord.[3][4][5] The map was officially announced on August 3, 2019, along with a Henry Stickmin Collection update.[6] It was released on August 8, 2019, with a trailer uploaded on August 9, 2019.[7] At first, MIRA HQ was paid to have the ability to host a game on it, though other players could join for free, but later the price was adjusted to completely free.

Description

MIRA HQ is the main headquarters of the MIRA organization, made for spatial studies purposes. The headquarters is a cluster of buildings, whose height reaches the stratosphere. The buildings make extensive use of transparent materials, allowing it to be possible to view the outside from inside the building from a huge altitude. The map itself takes place on the 1-11th floor of the headquarters,[note 1] featuring a launch area that allows dropships to land and dock for maintenance purposes. The floor also houses most of the headquarters' communication and administration systems, as well as the location of the reactor, which powers the entire building. It is also responsible for the site's oxygen generation and defense system, being armed with a long-range laser cannon used to destroy meteors in the balcony. The floor is equipped with a canteen, which has several tables and a drinks machine, although the kitchen is not visible. The rooms on the floor are connected by three corridors that join, which are equipped with sensors linked to the office. There is also a changing room that houses the suits used by the crew and a decontamination system, possibly due to the radiation emitted by the reactor. The floor houses the headquarters laboratory, where materials found during space expeditions are analyzed. It is also the place where all data received by the crew is sent to headquarters through communications. The floor has all ventilations connected, which allows the movement of engineers and possible impostors.

Around the building, there are several weather balloons that receive weather data, which can be received and accessed by a computer on the right side of the balcony.

Locations

Launchpad

Launchpad is the first spawn point for players until the first meeting. The dropship is perched, along with several boxes, a diagnostic computer, another device to fill the engines, and a vent near the dropship.

MedBay

MedBay consists of 7 beds, a scanner, and a vent between two beds.

  • Tasks:
    • Accept Diverted Power (top) (Stage 2)
    • Clean Vent (bottom)
    • Submit Scan (right)

Communications

Communications has radio equipment and a computer that displays the doorlogs, updating the log whenever a player passes a sensor. There are three sensors, at the entrance of all three sections of the map, dubbed 'southeast', 'southwest', and 'north' sensors.

Locker Room

Locker Room has several lockers and a bench, and a vent in the bottom-left corner and serves as a hallway on the way to decontamination, laboratory and the reactor.

  • Tasks:
    • Clean Vent (bottom-left)
    • Fix Wiring (top-left) (Stage 1, 2, or 3)

Office

Office is a medium-sized room located across from Admin, which is in the upper area of the map. It has a The Henry Stickmin Collection poster in the top-right corner, and a vent in the upper-left corner. Two short tasks are found here, and the Fix Lights Sabotage and Comms Sabotaged can be fixed there.

  • Tasks:
    • Accept Diverted Power (top-right) (Stage 2)
    • Clean Vent (top-left)
    • Process Data (top-right)
  • Sabotages:

Admin

Admin is located under Greenhouse, across from Office. It consists of the Admin table and the Enter Id Code, Prime Shields, and Chart Course tasks.

Balcony

Balcony is the balcony located at the bottom of MIRA HQ, with Clear Asteroids on the left, Measure Weather on the right, and a vent in the middle between the two doors. It serves as an extension of Cafeteria.

Cafeteria

Cafeteria is located in the right corridor, and also near Storage and Balcony. The tables in Cafeteria are cubic and light brown, the vent is located near the entrance, and the emergency button is located on the left table.

Decontamination

Decontamination is a long hallway that runs from Locker Room to a hallway that separates Reactor and Laboratory. A vent is situated at the bottom-right corner of the room, so Impostors can perform a murder in the room. The player must use a stand next to the doors to open them. Extreme caution is required, as The Impostor can perform kills and use vents without being noticed. The crew members are decontaminated before going to the corridor that connects Reactor and Laboratory. It consists of an isolated room with yellow floors and black floors that flash blue, in addition to vaporizers and two doors that players can open by pressing the button on the sides. When they enter, the door closes, and the place emits steam. Several seconds after that, the other door opens.

  • Tasks:
    • Clean Vent (bottom-right)

Hallway

Hallway is an upside-down Y-shaped and has doorlog sensors at each of its exits. It has one task at its bottom-left, which is Fix Wiring. At its bottom-right, there is a vent.

  • Tasks:
    • Clean Vent (bottom-right)
    • Fix Wiring (bottom-left) (Stage 1 or 2)

Laboratory

Laboratory is a medium-sized room located across from Reactor after the Decontamination hallway. It features a one-way window that can only be looked through on the hallway side, and a vent.

  • Tasks:

Reactor

Reactor is connected to Laboratory, which contains a massive reactor with a claw that emits a laser (which can change color if Reactor is Sabotaged), several computers, and two hand palms that are used to repair Reactor Meltdown, just like on The Skeld. But, to get to Reactor, Crewmates must first go through Decontamination. A vent is located on the left below. Several one-way windows can also be seen through the hallway side of Reactor.

Storage

Storage is located near Cafeteria. Inside the room is a bookcase that contains old materials, including the watering can in use of watering the plants.

  • Tasks:
    • Fix Wiring (bottom-left) (Stage 1)
    • Water Plants (top) (Stage 1)

Greenhouse

Greenhouse is a long room with pots full of shrubs, flowers, plants, and a large oxygen filter with a tree inside. The roof contains several dry plants that sway slowly, and a vent is situated above the filter. The floor is entirely made of some transparent material (possibly glass).

  • Tasks:
    • Accept Diverted Power (bottom-left) (Stage 2)
    • Clean O2 Filter (top)
    • Fix Wiring (bottom) (Stage 2 or 3)
    • Water Plants (bottom-right) (Stage 2)
  • Sabotages:

Features

Abilities

Admin

The Admin ability can be accessed through the administration table in the Admin room. It administrates 13 locations.

Doorlog

The Doorlog ability can be accessed through the computer in the Communications room.

Objects

Doors

On MIRA HQ, there are no doors that Impostors can Sabotage, and the only doors are in Decontamination and Balcony. The doors in Decontamination appear as light gray doors with glass across their center. The doors in Balcony appear as transparent glass doors. The Decontamination doors are typically closed, but may be opened by using the button nearby, as long as no player is being decontaminated. The Balcony doors will open automatically when a player gets close to them. Any sprite on top of the Balcony doors can be seen, regardless of vision. There are pairs of Decontamination and Balcony doors.

Vents

On MIRA HQ, vents appear as rounded, rectangular grates with five vertical slits across the middle and a screw hole in each of the four corners. The vents are interconnected, meaning a single vent system on the map links to every location.

  • The vent in Admin links to the vents in Greenhouse and Hallway.
  • The vent in Balcony links to the vents in Hallway and MedBay.
  • The vent in Decontamination links to the vents in Laboratory, Locker Room, and Reactor.
  • The vent in Greenhouse links to the vents in Admin and Office
  • The vent in Hallway links to the vents in Admin and Balcony.
  • The vent in Laboratory links to the vents in Decontamination, Office, and Reactor.
  • The vent in Launchpad links to the vents in Reactor and Locker Room
  • The vent in Locker Room links to Decontamination, Launchpad, and MedBay.
  • The vent in MedBay links to the vents in Balcony and Locker Room.
  • The vent in Office links to the vents in Admin, Greenhouse, and Laboratory.
  • The vent in Reactor links to the vents in Decontamination, Laboratory, and Launchpad.

Sabotages

MIRA HQ features the Comms Sabotaged, Fix Lights, Oxygen Depleted, and Reactor Meltdown sabotages. Impostors may Sabotage Communications to cause Comms Sabotaged, Office to cause Fix Lights, Greenhouse to cause Oxygen Depleted, and Reactor to cause Reactor Meltdown. Comms Sabotaged and Oxygen Depleted are resolved in two locations (Comms Sabotaged: Office and Communications; Oxygen Depleted: Greenhouse and an unnamed hallway linking Launchpad). The countdown of the Oxygen Depleted and Reactor Meltdown critical sabotages are 45 seconds.

Trivia

  • MIRA HQ is set on a tall skyscraper, a part of an organization called MIRA. The Crewmates had possibly come back from space on The Skeld, from the rest of their adventures.
  • Process Data is a continuation of Upload Data, seen on The Skeld, Polus, and The Airship as it processes the data sent by the Crew on the other four maps.
    • Additionally, MIRA HQ was referenced on these maps with the title "Headquarters" in Upload Data.
  • MIRA HQ is the only map without Security, but in return, it is the only map with Doorlogs.
  • The vents on MIRA HQ are interconnected, meaning that An Impostor or Engineer can use them to travel around the map more efficiently, unlike other maps. This makes vents a very efficient mode of transportation for Impostors, as they can kill someone and appear pretty much anywhere else on the map.
  • In Office, there is a poster displaying The Henry Stickmin Collection. The Henry Stickmin series is also developed by Innersloth, specifically one of the staff, Marcus Bromander.
    • The NRg drink can be seen in the vending machine in the Buy Beverage task, along with the Don Dew drink from the MLG sequence.
  • During Halloween 2019 and 2020, The Skeld and MIRA HQ received visual changes, giving it some Halloween decorations such as webs, spiders, bats, pumpkins, candles, etc. Players can also set their devices' dates to October 31, 2019, or October 31, 2020 and then play the game to get this version of the maps.
  • MIRA HQ is the smallest map in Among Us. The largest is The Airship.[8]
MIRA HQ first draft
  • Earlier in Among Us's history, MIRA HQ and Polus were DLC maps before the price kept decreasing as time went by, and eventually became free maps.[9][10]
  • MIRA HQ is the only currently available map without Door Sabotage.
  • On January 8, 2021, Innersloth posted the first draft of MIRA HQ on its Twitter.[11]
  • MIRA HQ takes place specifically on the 111th floor of a skyscraper.[12]
  • MIRA HQ was originally planned to take place underwater.[13] However, the skyscraper theme was decided on later in the map's development.[14]
  • In the Quick Chat interface, MIRA HQ is shortened to "Mira".
  • In Practice mode, the controlled character spawns in Cafeteria instead of Launchpad.
  • MIRA HQ is the only map which has no unique sound effect or music during ejection.

Notes

  1. In a hallway between Launchpad and MedBay, you can see a MIRA HQ banner saying "1-11". It is unknown whether there are 1 to 11 floors on the headquarters, or if it takes place on a 1-11th floor.
